Chris Anderson New BlimpDuino code--much more efficient!

Jordi's been hard at work on the BlimpDuino code. Here's the latest version, which he describes as follows: "Wow, a lot to explain! I added a lot of interesting functions, it will blow your mind ;-) First I added a smart delay system. If you need to delay() something you can use the smart_delay(1000) function, and it will delay the value between the () and spend the time capturing IR packets rather than doing nothing. This… Continue

Chris Anderson BlimpDuino RC-mode code

If you want to fly BlimpDuino in RC mode (recommended! It's fun and a good way to learn the aerodynamics of vectoring thrusters), you'll need to run this code. BTW, we have beta units in the hands of testers now (sorry, no more units to give away at this time). If all goes well, we should have kits by the end of the year. Continue

Chris Anderson BlimpDuino code now in alpha

Jordi has finished the first pass on the code for the new BlimpDuino boards. It's best to consider this pre-alpha and not fully functional, but if you want to see how we read IR and ultrasonic sensors, read RC channels, drive a servo and twin motors and use PID loops to hold altitude and navigate, you'll find it instructive. It's practically a primer in Arduino robotics. Of particular note are the PID control loo… Continue

Chris Anderson ArduPilot and BlimpDuino status updates

As they say, the last 10% of the development takes 90% of the time. But we're getting close. Here's the latest: --ArduPilot: we're now on the second beta of the commerical board, which will be manufactured and sold by a commerical partner to be named soon. Fingers crossed, we've finally squashed all the bugs. As soon as the manufactured boards (PCB plus robotic pick-and-place SMD component assembly) come back from our partner in a week or two, we'll optimize the code on the simulator, an… Continue
