Of course, splitting the powerplant so nicely solves the problem of a front prop - while retaining the simple backend. On the other hand - no commercial uav has this configuration - so it bears asking why not. I suggest the answer is along these...

the juno-module is used in the spektrum-RC-gear.. and is miles away from a videolink! but the spektrum-protokoll is hacked, you can make our own "compatible" RX and TX. I prefere the XBEEs, they offer a much more robust downlink in APImode.

but might be good for telemetry / remote GS considering the price of less than 25$ :) offers some potential for creative ideas.

It has less data rate of 62.5kbits/sec, I do't think this will be ideal for Video streaming.

Our best brains are busy inventing new financial products. Anyone need some used-car-loan-backed-securities? 20% interest!! How 'bout some taxpayer-bailout-default-swaps, if the market goes down, your kids will pay it back with interest!!

This would seem to be the same power profile as the RC radios - with trans capabilities. As it is "Wireless USB", it should be fast enough for first person video in digital modes. http://dkc1.digikey.com/us/en/ph/unigen/juno.html

I was pretty excited about that Cessna 182, but looking more closely at the pictures, I can see that you guys are right about it looking better from a distance. Another concern I had about the 182 is that it starts out at 3.2 lbs, which doesn't le...

I still say my Nitromodels 81" Cessna 337 (modified for single EP) is the perfect platform. I am planning on eventually adding 4" to each wing section to possibly increase loiter. I just rec'd my Aeolian 500kv C4260 monster... I think I may have...

Big Roomy EPO Puller for $199

Hobby King released a new platform which might address some of the complaints with easystar - it's larger, has ailerons (and flaps), and plenty of room under the wing for CG neutral payloads.

Atmel v Microchip v Freescale

Having now worked with all three uControllers and their respective IDEs, I thought it would be beneficial to start a milestone summary of my observations.

To begin, I recently went back to the Microchip PIC family on account of their superior battery life (ultra low watt sleep) - which it seems is a full order of magnitude better than freescale or atmel. I note that microchip has recently? added a C compiler to the free IDE, in addition the PICs now come with a matrix multiplier which increases… Continue

Shared Project Proposal - A Wright Flyer at Kill Devil Hill

Kill Devil Hill

I was driving home tonight and thought how cool would it be if the RC/UAV community worked together on a small model of the Wright's plane, with an autopilot that would repeat the flight path of the first airplane for visitors. It's a tragically quiet monument, and it would be much improved by a regular flight demonstra… Continue
