Varga, Nice idea. Use a two antenna diversity system with one antenna being omni-bearing and the other being directed. The diversity controller would switch to whichever antenna had the best reception. Regards, TCIII

Hooks, I believe that you are reinventing the wheel. Gemma Jane's thread ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1114839&highlight=maja ) "Designing a Purpose Built FPV Model" on RCGroups has already identified a design that meets most of your...

Hi Chris, Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated. The black antenna protector fits on the Ublox GPS antenna just fine as long as I remove the plastic sleeve that is surrounding the antenna and is held on by tape at the base of the anten...

Yes, the black sleeve is to protect the antenna in use. It should be a slip fit--not sure why yours isn't fitting.

Hi all, It has been a while since I bought my Ublox GPS from the DIY Drones Store and verified that it would work with my Ardupilot. Today I noticed that the black antenna protector was lying next to the Ublox GPS in the box that I normally keep...

Antonio, I just finished building the new v2 Shield board and it came with the female headers and the connector for the thermopile cable. Hope this helps. Regards, TCIII

ST is not not known for great quality control. I have had brand new ST parts that went thermal on me in short order. Regards, TCIII

What level of ESD protection is on your workbench?

Hi all,

I have been a System Engineer for over 30 yrs and have gone from tubes to ICs during my time in the Aero Space industry.

Tubes were virtually immune to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and could be handled just about any way we wanted to. But when it comes to ICs, ESD can damage or destroy an IC in an instant.

Many of the boards offered for sale in kits by DIY Drones contain static sensitive parts/components that can be damaged even when attached to their respective circuit boards.

Ther… Continue

UAV support group for North Texas

Hi all,

I live just north of McKinney, Texas and slightly east of the North Central Expressway (US 75).

Is anyone in the McKinney and surrounding (Princeton, Frisco, Melissa, Anna or Sherman) area interested in forming a UAV support group?

FMA Direct Business Model

Hi all,

It took me a while to figure out that I could back order the FMA XY sensor when it was listed as being out of stock instead of waiting until a new production run came in to FMA.

FMA appears to only make enough to fill back orders as the June 1st shipment that I had been waiting for was immediately gone and the XY sensor status had gone back to out of stock with the next delivery being June 26th.

So I decided to place an order for the XY sensor to see if FMA would accept an order for a… Continue

Latest version of Arduino IDE compatible with Ardupilot code?

Hi all,

I know that there were some issues using Arduino IDE ver 15 and it was recommended to use ver 13.

However, I thought that I read somewhere on the ArduPilot Home page that ver 15 had been fixed and would work with the ArduPilot code.

Can anyone tell me which version will work with the ArduPilot code?

Regards,
TCIII
