It may just be a typo in the specs. PAL and NTSC are competing video standards from different parts of the world. If your unit works, then its NTSC and therefore not an issue... sorry to complicate things.

Are you sure? Was it installed (and run) using compatibility mode? Is this official from C/C? I've been running Win7 for a year now on my laptop (first Beta, then RC and then RTM versions) and been happy. Actually, the driver base is identical to…

@OLiver, Adding a URL link to text does work. The link will disappear or show up as longhand text if done incorrectly. First select the URL from the source and then moving to the comment area, highlight a word in the sentence like maybe the compan…

I notice the video specs are PAL... this is not for use in north America. Although the glasses are input switchable, make sure the camera NTSC.

I meant that there are many photos of the Predator here at the site. Chris has made sure that the main page "icon" was generic and could be the NASA version so as not to appear militaristic.

There are more than a few rotor craft threads here, but the consensus seems to be that 3 rotors are more trouble than 4 or more.

Oh, another pic of the Predator... and its the military version!

@Mike: I have been following this site almost from the beginning, and I can say straight up that Chris has always been consistant about the mission statement of this site. I really don't know what the basis is for your statement "it does come across…

Doesn't copyright only apply to commercial operations? If you are building a project for yourself, isn't that exempt?

TActuaslly, like any open-source community, the site is really meant to allow lots of customization and modifying of the code... if a person has a unique project, it is usually up to them to work out their settings and then share with the community,…

It has to do with way the emergency recovery parachute system flips the drone on it back protecting the expensive bits and pieces.

@Jeffrey, I was directing my remarks to Anthony Bee. Several members have worked on changing the PID settings for example allowing the ArduPilot to run well on other platforms. I am no sure if there is a library of these customized settings yet.(?)

Well, I don't think you looked very hard because this site has many threads/blogs devoted to this very question.. whole sections infact! One of the most popular "out the box, ready to fly" platforms is the EasyStar. As to your comment about "a GPS…

"This site contains a wealth of information meant to address the very questions you are asking.

Many like minded people have begun just as you are and rec'd ideas and aswers by reading about the experiences of the modellers and experimenters before you.

Since alot of the enjoyment (for most of us) comes from the trial and error of a custom configuration, it would perhaps be best if you read some of the many threads and articles here at DIY Drones."

Hey, that is so cool! The ArduPilotPro uses an Arduino board, which is something me and Ryan were talking about a while back. I was actually thinking about purchasing the arduino board anyways, to play around with and use with different projects. But now I will actually have a good reason to get one...

There is actually a cheaper one out there called the Boarduino, but I think there are some significant differences so the Boarduino might not work with this.

I haven't had much of a chance to read the ArduPilotPro page yet but I will try to do so today.

I'm just reading through now, and I think I would have a lot better perspective on all this if I understood a little more about R/C planes and exactly what a finished autopilot device needs to do... do you have any links or info in that regard? I'll look around on my own too, but I thought you might have some good info kickin around.

Oops, I'm posting in two different places here. My previous posts were replies to your comments on my wall. I was just asking if you had info about exactly what the autopilot does, but I think I found what I need, so don't worry.

So I'm looking around here, and I saw a post where Chris states that the ArduPilot (not ArduPilotPro) code would be out soon, that was in June I believe. And then on the ArduPilot page it says that the code is in alpha. So it's not actually been released yet? Or am I just not looking hard enough...

Hi Sgt Ric

I hope there will be no goosestepping. The few people I know actually working commercially are north of the border and as long as they are they it gives me hope for a civilian market. Transport Canada appears to be willing to even allow overflight of populated areas as long as you ask nicely and are not flying a 200lb monster.

Ric,
No problem mate don't worry about it, but just so you know and so we can clear the air, I have a degree in aerospace systems engineering and my project which won a first prize in a European UAV competition was designing a UAV from an aerodynamic point of view. Anyways due to my circumctances in life I never had the chance to actually get hands on with the stuff you guys are up to and the reason I'm turning to this field as a hobby is because I have a few good ideas to implement but I need to gain some experience first. Any ways I truly do respect someone who has the decency to leave me a comment like you did.
all the best and keep in touch

Ric, I was just reading your profile and saw that you were working on the nitroplanes 337, I guess great minds think alike (lol) that is exactly what I'm planning. I also have a nitoplanes Predator with an Ardupilot in it plus FPV camera. I haven't ordered the 337 yet, have you put yours together and flown it yet, it looks like a great airframe to play with. I'm thinking of putting a single Zenoah 26 (since I have it laying around) in the rear leaving the front open for stuff, also I want to redesign the nose to look more like the RQ-7 Shadow. Have a great day.

Doug
