The data rate is a non-starter. Xbee is designed for serial communications at a max of 230kbps. That's too slow for any kind of decent video.

My quadrotor used a 2.4GHz bluetooth link for telemetry and the moment I turned on the 2.4GHZ wireless video the telemetry link died. I suppose if you replaced the antennas you might be able to get it to work, but my solution is going to be to use W…

As long as you use 900Mhz Xbees (or similar frequency far from 2.4 GHz), video at 2.4Ghz is no problem.

Yes & no !! Actually formatting video data in a way that would be acceptable to an X-Bee module would be tricky but not impossible; the main restriction I think would be the data rate. See the discussion at I've been thinking along the same lines h…

This is no offense. But it's amazing you guys are able to program these auto piloting systems but seem awed by simple aileron modifications to a simple 3ch aircraft. That plane is underpowered, It'll fly but adding extra weight for the auto piloting…

No. You need a video transmitter and receiver designed for the purpose that will take the analogue video signal transmit it, and generate an analogue video signal at the receiver. An Xbee is a digital networking device for transmitting data. Whilst…

Could I hook up an x-bee directly to a video camera and hook it's partner [x-bee] to a tv or video capture card and have a video tx/rx? Here are the parts I would use: 2x x-bee 2x x-bee explorer 1x camera 1x for programing the x-bee's just thro…

Looks Great! Thanks for the comments!=]

I have 3 of these, with 1 already built with 50+ flights. This thing is a rock star. Is it Elapor, no I believe its EPP. It rocks, has super performance, equal to easystar. Does it have some issues like sticky elevator - yup, I cut it off, extended…

You may want to consider this model: It's an AXN Floater-Jet from HobbyCity Basicly, it's an EasyStar/WildHawk with ailerons. There's some videos (Youtube) showing the EsayStar vs. AXN Floater-Jet.

Thanks for the comments Caleb! Is the video with or without brushless? If it's without brushless I'm about sold!

awesome=]

I see the complaints. the power really is not a problem with a brushed motor. i mean the plane is not a hotrod. the single best upgrade that you should never fly it without is larger rudder and elevator control surfaces. Can see it with its current…

I have one. I got it rtf from harborfreight for $85 around xmas last year (08). I have done many mods to it. Ailerons/Flaps, larger rudder and elevator and brushless motor, as well as FlyCamOne2 mounted up front. here is a video. http://www.youtube

Cheap Trainers

I know you've all heard of the easy star but what do you think of these? Are any of these any good? I picked them because they look decent but don't cost as much as the easystar for starting off with plain old flying [drone comes next]. If you know about any of them or any better ones please comment! Thanks!

RC Plane Prop Saver

RC Plane Prop Saver: I found this while researching the Super Cub and thought it might be usefull to those of you not flying EasyStars. :

From: http://thesmithfam.org/blog/2006/10/17/rc-plane-prop-saver/

Direct quote:

"Michael Torrie created a really handy tool to save your RC plane’s propellers from a spinning death on impact. It’s called a prop saver and it’s based on the “elastic rules, static drules” principle. Read on for pictures and explanation:

I have been using the B.U.H.O.R, I have built the sassys rudder rail, I started the corospit (have not finished it), BUHOR 25 and I am currently in the process of building the gnat. I think I am going to use the BUHOR as a uav platform but there is some stuff I am working on before i get that far.

I am using just cheap standard size servos. I am in the process of coming up with a wing tank for fuel with add on fuel tanks for longer flight time depending upon the mission. This is the first time I am getting into UAV's so all that stuff is new to me.
