The SN754410NE also seems a bit cheaper. The pinouts look the same, so I assume it's a drop-in replacement.

The new one can handle more power. Both work, but the SN754410NE has more safety overhead.

For the motor contorller (quad half-h driver) I notice in the shipping kit and in the published schematic, you use the L293D, but in the parts list you mention the SN754410NE. Why did you switch? Was there a problem with the SN754410NE? Thanks, --…

Mitch, There is one thing you can do if you want to spend around $20. That is to buy a receiver servo simulator: ( http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=466&CategoryID=113 ). It allows you to generate a servo PPM signal from ~1 ms to ~2…

Check out (and recheck) each single wire with a multimeter. The Rx has to be plugged for the RC modes, else you'll have random behavior. Also check out your board with a lens to look for solder hairs eventually cross-connecting solder points.

I'm having a problem where it is very flaky about detecting RC mode. There are cases where no receiver is connected and it goes into RC mode, and cases where there *is* a receiver connected and it doesn't. It seems to be almost random about whether…

I have a problem where it isn't consistently recognizing RC mode. The code looks to be averaging "channel 1" position, but it seems to be an int timer which counts clock interupts, and since the running average only has to get to 1, it should detect…

I am interested in how you would convert, but it's a moot point for the moment. I already had a couple of extension leads that I was trying to solder new connectors on.. what I ended up doing was removing the header pins from the two servo input ch…

If you haven't already ordered i would suggest ordering these. 10 servo leads for $5 delivered is hard to beat. With a scalpel and pliers i found they can easily be converted to Female to Female cables. Ill post pics if you are interested. Nick

I feel like a bit of an idiot.. it looks like two of these are what I want: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9187

After being unable to find them on the web or in the local hobby shops, I'm trying to make the female to female patch cables used to hook the radio receiver up to the board, and I'm a little confused, and probably out of my depth. I ordered some fe…

I'm thinking that using 4 of these sensors rather than the ir detectors would make for some interesting behavior. I would probably need to tweak the code for the slower readout rate.

I would love to see a youtube video of how you work with that foam. Do you use a hot-wire cutter, or just a regular knife? How much tape do you use to strengthen the foam?

I hope you'll excuse all the questions. I'm somewhat new at this. The 300mAh 2S lipoly packs I can find in local hobby stores aren't balanced, but I'm not sure how much difference it really makes. Should I hold out for the online pack and charger,…

What about the voltage? Will the switching regulator on the board handle 11 or 14 volts? will the motor controller?
June 20
The pack you mention is on backorder everywhere I look. Would this battery be an acceptable substitute? it's slightly heavier (22g vs 19.5g for the other one) but otherwise has similar characteristics, though the form factor is somewhat different.…
