Adding crypto to our amateur UAV would certainly bring FCC, FAA & NSA attention. Shame on decision makers who didn't use the tools available for secure video links from our military drones. Will a amateur Drone become classified as munitions with a…

Hi Mark,
I see u are interested in wildlife surveys. Me too, ans related applications for imagery for GIS and using for water optical proxies! Any chance you are a scientist or a member of a government institution?

No, I am neither, but I am a avid hunter & fisherman and hoping to work with Colorado Division of Wildlife, after retirement, I provided technical project management services for the B2 Stealth testing program and was a Electronics Tech in the Navy before that, I currently develop robust FileMaker databases for Dex (R.H. Donnelley).
This is a hobby that I want to expand into a retirement income , a job that I would enjoy for the rest of my life.
I would be interested in your "water optical proxies" from my naval background does this apply to underwater communications ?

Hi Mark

I am about ready to program the ArduStation through the FTDI connector, but I noticed on the schematic and through a continuity measurement that the third pin from the right on the ArduStation board FTDI connector is hooked to the +5v on the ArduStation board.

What is the intent of providing +5v on the FTDI connector if the FTDI connector is powered by the USB connection?
Is it safe to use either the Sparkfun 3.3v FTDI board or the Ardafruit FTDI cable with +5v on the ArduStation board FTDI power pin (3rd pin from the right)?

I assume that the ArduStation board is powered up using its own power supply during the programming?

Regards,
TCIII

Mark - Here's the latest ArduSlave code - Arduino_GPS_Slave.pde.zip - It show's sending cmds to, and requesting data from, the slave. Cheers - Pete

Here's the calling code from ArduPilot GPS_EM406.pde.zipGPS.pde- shows getting GPS and sending cmds to the slave. I think it would be very easy (and not stress the system) to connect ArduIMU and ArduPilot. I'm planning just that.
