You're not an idiot. Unless you make that same mistake twice. :) :)
It sucks to blow up hardware, but it will be a lesson you don't forget. Many people pay a lot more than the price of a GPS module to learn their lessons.

I was certain that vcc on the ardupilot were 3.3v ... I'm an idiot!
Oh, and the Vcc you marked as 0v (the one on the programming connector) on the Ardupilot, I believe that is not connected so that there is no contention between the Vcc provided by the programming connector and the other Vcc inputs. If you read abou…

I’m not going to be able to work on this project for awhile, so I thought I would post about it, partially so that I don’t forget the details myself : )
