How to make sense of latitude, longitude reading?

Hi everyone,
Can anyone provide me good links where i can learn to implement gps. I searched in google a lot but didnt find anything. I need info on stuff like how to interpret the latitude, longitude, heading, readings and use it to tell the UAV go to assigned waypoint.

Here is a good introduction for GPS from u-blox;

GPS only provides time and position information. Choosing courses, selecting headings, and monitoring progress on a course is the essence of navigation. The canonical source for that is Nathaniel Bowditch's "The American Practical Navigator". Here's a link to the 2002 edition. (caution, 35 Mb .pdf file!) Chapter 7 and chapter 21 have the formulas you need.
