Default data rate of GS407 U-Blox5 GPS?

I got one of these recently with the adapter board, I'm having some difficulty communicating with it and cant seem to find the serial settings I need to read from it. I've got my serial port set to 8N1 and tried everything from 4800 to 38400 and still get trash. also is there a command reference somewhere. I'd like to be able to fiddle with the update rate and protocols.

If you got the GPS from us, it was programmed into binary protocol. You won't be able to see the data in plain text. It ships at 38400 baud.

Thanks for get back so quick, Yep, got from you, is changing the protocol something I can do? or maybe a magic decoder ring?
